Why You Should Track Calories For 10 Days

Writer: Joshua McDoolJoshua McDool

Most people may think they have an idea of how many calories they consume per day…

But without consistently tracking for a week or so, are unaware of the day to day effect their diet has on their long term results.

“I’ve no idea how I’ve gained this much extra body fat since X”

“I’m confused because I don’t eat that much day to day”

“No matter what I try, I can’t shift it”

… all common problems, and you may even have said one of these yourself before.

Counting Calories May Seem Like A Chore

And it can be at first, because you’re not entirely sure how to use the app, what a calorie is, or how many you need consume each day…

But once you begin logging every single thing you put in your gob, you begin to gain a better understanding of your previous mistakes and how to correct them.

If you eat similar foods each day, you can not only begin to adjust portion sizes better - but it actually becomes quicker to log them!

You just become more accountable to what you're consuming and think twice, knowing that you’re going to be inputting it into the diary.

And once you have a good understanding, you won’t need to track as often, maybe just when you try new recipes or occasional meals out.

I always recommend at least 10 days to include a full weekend, which often varies to a weekday for most people.
